Hello all. So after taking a break on this forum, I've decided to make my triumphal return. I have a couple ideas for a new project, and I want to see what you guys think. Hopefully this will be better than the stop-start nature of many of my previous timelines!
Idea 1: What it Takes Gary Hart never meets Donna Rice. This timeline would follow Hart's campaign for the Presidency in 1988, and continue through to the President day.
Idea 2: Why Not? I know this has practically been done to death already, but a timeline about Bobby Kennedy surviving the assassination attempt by Sirhan Sirhan. My motives behind doing this are simple: while I deeply admire and respect RogueBeaver's interpretation of a Robert Kennedy Presidency, I disagree with him on some key aspects. Essentially, this would be a more liberal take on Kennedy and Company.
Idea 3: Dewey Defeats Truman! This idea has been bouncing around the forums for some time now, but has never been fully implemented. I'm not an expert on this time period, so it would take more research than the previous two ideas. Then again, it would also present an interesting look at a very different political world.
Idea 4: Golden Boys Again What-if Urban Meyer had taken the coaching job at Notre Dame? A totally non-political timeline, but one that would have interesting implications on both college football and the NFL.
So those are the four ideas. Right now I'm leaning towards either Dewey or Meyer, primarily because those simply haven't been done yet. The Bobby Kennedy idea is also interesting but it would be hard to write anything as interesting or engaging as RogueBeaver's epic. The Hart TL is definitely my least favorite idea, simply because it involves the least number of butterflies.
