Ideal Caucasus Borders?

Ignoring the fact that there's no way Russia would let such a thing happen, what would be the best borders for independent states in the Caucasus region?

Inserting them probably doesn't work because they're .svg (some kind of vector format and not a "conventional" image); what you'd need to insert is their .png equivalents, which Wikipedia has available for all of its .svg files.

On topic, and assuming we're talking about the modern day - I'd go with something like this:

With a big ? over Adygea; perhaps some kind of territorial exchange might be worth considering to round it out.

Hard to say. The Caucasus' ethnic demographics is about as close to the hellscape that was Yugoslavia as it could be, especially Dagestan. To be honest, OTL (including breakaway territories) is about as close as feasibly possible to an ideal border. I'd be in favour of shaving off parts of Turkey to Georgia and carving Iranian Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan (would fix the ugliness of the enclave).

This was why Iran had early problems with Azerbaijain. They took the name that had until then ONLY refered to Iranian Azerbaijan. That, and they (Baku and the rest) had less than half of the Azeris.and I would say the Turks taking back Adjara and the Iranians Nakhichevan would work just as well. As for making groups fit ethnic or linguistic borders, it would simply lead to each country ethnically cleansing others to protect their own claims.

Isn't Adjara Georgian anyway? Sure, you can say they're Muslims, but even that doesn't hold water anymore now that they're majority Christians.

Yes, looking into it it seems that what with deportations, atheistic secularization, and Christianization they are more Christian. I was thinking more of the treaty where the Turks gained land form the Caucaus, then gave back portions to the Soviets so long as they were made autonomous regions, which they remain to this day. They Turks having Adjara would look good on a map but yah, I don't really see much in the way of a border change between them. I do think the Armenian state that I can't spell should be independent, but after the war and such it would probably just be annexed to Armenia or continue to be an appendage to them.

The Armenians and Azerbaijani would never go along with it due to the big area the Armenians occupy. It also would have had troubles right at independence, due to them wanting their national independence.

Yea, the demographics are about as nasty as Bosnia, with the Azeri villages ringing Nagorno-Karabakh a.la. Sprska. This has since been 'resolved' with the Nagorno-Karabakh war, but it's ugly stuff, regardless.
