Idea I just had about Germany in the colonial affairs

Is it at all possible, that intead of colonising relatively worthless territories in Africa, the Kaiser would instead focus on the Pacific and Asia? Could he make a deal with the Dutch to take over Indonesia, or perhaps meddle in the affairs of Siam? Maybe a larger involvement in China? How would all this effect the geo-political situation, and a WW1, if it even happens?

Thoughts?

Indonesia was to valuable to the Dutch for them to even think of letting go of it and they were close to the Germans.

As for Siam I actually had a topic about a German Siam and the response was:
1. That the French and British were too involved in Siam and wouldn't let Germany get involved.
2. The Siamese government was able to play both the French and British against each and prevent it's self from becoming a colony of either.
So a German Siam is also impossible.

As for China my knowledge itself is rather small so I can't give much input on it.

As for geo-political Germany would come into conflict with the US I would expect since the Pacific was one of the US' spheres of influence so this might get the US involved into a more closer relationship with the British.

Perhaps they pick a fight with the Spanish and pick up the Pacific colonies. They sure as heck were interested OTL. I mean, the best POD is actually pre-1900, at Versailles where the southern parts of Indochina could be taken and then northern Vietnam could then be taken from the Chinese, a la Sino-French war in 1884. Then Germany could also move into Siam and take things from China, such as Formosa or Hainan.

When the US-Spain war comes along, there would be a larger German fleet already in Asia that could then be concentrated for taking the Philippenes from Spain "buying" it if you will. Who knows, maybe this would be enough to sate German thirsts for colonies and there would no WW1?
