ID4 Aftermath

A portion of the world's satellite system has been damaged or destroyed .143 major world cities have been destroyed or damaged.These include several national capitols,cultural,religious and industrial centers and homes to millions of people.The conventional forces of the worlds great powers-the United States,Russia,China and Western Europe have been severeley depleted.Millions are dead including many political ,cultural and religious leaders.Hundreds of millions are homeless or refugees in their own or other countries.Lastly ,and certainly not least, there are hundreds of downed alien craft and the 36 downed city destroyers which probably contain thousands of alien survivors.

To me this cries out for a sequel,but since the director and producer have decided against one well have to settle for this thread. What happens next? Who are the "winners and losers" in the world and most importantly which animal will humans start wearing as a bio-mechanical suit to copy those new alien residents?

Earth will take sevaral decades to recover from this. The aliens are an unknown, however, we don't know how long they live for. All we know is that they are telepathic whcih will make them potentially very dangerous.

if the city destroyers all blowed up as violently as the one in the movie did, there probably won't be thousands of alien survivors. There probably would be several hundred around though. So, Earth basically spends decades and most of it's wealth rebuilding, and the surviving militaries are busy chasing down the last of the aliens.... once the world is back on it's feet, expect a jumpstart in technology as the alien hardware is analyzed....

Do you think that people will come back destroyed cities (NYC,LA,DC,etc) or do you think that most people will go to untouched cites. If so it would be intersting to see what nations capitals or largest cities would be after such an event such as the ID4 attacks.

After any number of the wars of modern times people have come back even to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

So they will come back, though high radiation levels may slow this down.

Did people in Japan really have many places to go, though, given the population density? So in highly populated places, people might return to where cities already existed, but its possible that in areas that have lots of space and lesser population density, old urban areas might be abandoned for new.

Well, the most damage has been done to the US and Western Europe, so one would think at first glance that China and India would rise up as the pre-eminent world powers. However given how much of the world food supply comes from the US and Europe, I think Famine is almost assured to hit the third world hard. And on it's heels will come disease and political turmoil. So in the end the damage will be spread out evenly over the world.

Did the Alien weapons cause produce high radiation levels? The only are with radiation promblesm would be Houston.

Would ID4 get the world back in to space in a big way?
It would be clear that we are not alone, and the natives aren't necessarily friendly.
So maybe, we should take some of the alien technology, get out in space and find out what other surprises await.

Well, at least Poland would be in relatively good shape. Sure, Warsaw was destroyed, but it wasn't aliens' primary target so we (i.e. Poles) would have enough time to evacuate. Besides, we rebuilt Warsaw after WW2, we can do it again. And if we managed to capture some alien technology...

The primary weapon was just fire based -no radioactivity. Remember the aliens were trying to wipeout humanity so they could use the Earth's resources-having the planet awash with radiation wouldnt have helped them much.

Info taken from an exhibit of a piece of the hull from Alien city destroyer -003 at the New Smithsonian in Baltimore Maryland.

This city destroyer played a key role in the Alien invasion of July 2 - July 4,2011. This ship destroyed Los Angeles, California late on July 2,2011. On July 3,2011 after it was already en route to Denver,Colorado its fighters engaged the US airforce in the Battle of Los Angeles. The battle was a total massacre for US air forces except for the alien pilot that was captured by Captain Steven Hiller. MCAS El Toro was also completley destroyed by attackers from this ship. The ship moved into Colorado later on July 3,2011. It centered on and destroyed Denver,Colorado that same day. Attackers from the ship destroyed NORAD and nearby Peterson AFB when the ship was moving to Denver. Vice President Jarvis, The Joint Chiefs of Staff and most of the Whitmore cabinet were killed at NORAD when the underground command center was exposed and destroyed by alien attackers. This ship moved totally unopposed to Phoenix,Arizona and destroyed that city late on July 3,2011. Only July 4,2011 the ship was moving to San Diego ,California when it apparently became aware of the presence of President Whitmore and remaining government elements at Area 51, Nevada. The ship altered course from San Diego and moved to destroy the base. President Whitmore personally lead the squadron that attacked the ship in the wake of the computer virus that crippled the Alien fleet. The ship was destroyed by Captain Russell Casse's suicide hit on the ships primary weapon. That knowledge was spread worldwide and helped destroy the rest of the Alien fleet.

That's pretty good. Could you do one for vessels elswhere too? It'd be cool to see who was involved in other areas taking 'em down. How about one regarding the multinational attack force that included the Brits, Arabs and Israelis coordinating with each other? One about the Japanese or even North Coreans (!) acting together would be cool too.

How was the underground command center exposed? I thought that NORAD was able to handle a direct hit by nuclear weapon.
