I need help!

I have thought up a timeline leading up to the Second World War. I think I'm pleased with this as a setting for my story. Now I have to figure out the story itself. Please help me with that. I know the timeline is full of implausible things, but that now doesn't really matter.

1900 – Tension between France and Britain rises over colonies in Africa and trade manipulations of both countries, and an arm race is about to start. Britain starts reinforcing its already enormous navy.

28 July 1914 – Start of the First World War

1917 – Russian Revolution

25 October 1917 – Start of the Russian Civil War.

7 November 1917 – Start of the October Revolution in Russia.

11 November 1918 – End of the First World War.

February 1919 – Start of the Polish-Soviet War.

30 March 1919 – France declares support for Poland.

1 May 1919 – Britain experiences a change in government, towards socialism.

3 May 1919 – In Moscow, a liberalist attempt of taking over power weakens attention to and force for the Polish-Soviet War.

28 May 1919 – Lenin is killed in the chaos and revolts in Moscow.

June 1919 – Poland benefits from the attempted coup and defeats Soviet forces, marches into Ukraine and annexes land up until the area where the Cossacks live.

July 1919 – Lithuania always had trouble with the fear of big neighbour Russia, and hence joins Polish forces. It notes the weakness of Russia and thinks it can try to profit.

September 1919 – Lithuania and Poland merge again, founding Poland-Lithuania again (now the United Republics of Eastern Europe, officially).

November 1919 – Polish, Lithuanian and now also Latvian forces manage to resist a last Soviet counterattack.

20 December 1919 – Britain declares actual support in the war to the Soviet Union, which had almost certainly lost the war.

4 January 1920 – The British navy attacks the coast of Poland.

31 January 1920 – British forces invade into Poland and Lithuania from the north.

5 February 1920 – France sends aircraft to support Polish forces. The Second World War starts, as Britain immediately declares war on France.

Me thinks you have your work cut out for a deadline of 1 Mar!

The dilemma to me, as a Brit, is the British decision to get involved at all, 15 months after fighting alongside the French (I assume this is the case in your TL WW1) - I think not. Socialist government in Britain perish the thought and the RN firing on our French brothers - mutiny/disobedience by RN seniors is more likely!

Realistically no chance British will play in this one and the dominions will not want to play either and they would make this point very forcefully. The British Empire will carry on, for the time being, quite happily who ever controls Russia.

And what is the Dutch angle if there is one? If you can include a young Karel Doorman I will be very impressed.

Good luck.

Thanks for your comments. I just started my story with a Polish boy in Gdynia. I now the British involvement in fighting against the French is unlikely, and hence the mutinying you mention will sure be included... I wasn't quite sure whether there has to be a Dutch angle in it, that's not really clear. I think I will make the boy half Dutch, half Polish.
