I hope this idea is original

I have an alt history idea, where rather than expanding To Persia and anatolia, Islam spreads from yemen to ethiopia, and the spread of islam is in east africa rather than the middle east. How would a timeline based on that sound? I want to hear your input. Perhaps one of you guys might want to colab with me.

Major question is why it wouldn't spread to Persia.

The war between the Caliphate and Persia occurred because of the perception that the Persians were pushing around a number of smaller Arabic states. If you can prevent that war, than the natural spread of Islam would be into Africa and the Indian ocean through the trade networks. It could be as easy as having Persia emerge under stronger leadership and avoid some of the Sassanid civil wars that came out of the Sassanid-Byzantine War, and the Caliphate not wanting to mess with them.

You could even have the Byzantines decide they need a new Red Sea port and thus weaken the Caliphate to the point where it cannot invade Persia. The only reason why Islam expanded as fast as it did was because European Christianity was tearing itself apart, and even then there were points where it was in serious danger.
