I hope someone can give me a good opinion. I don't know if we have a member who is the WWII Soviet person. Here goes:

If the Germans could capture the main dock, most of the Northern industrial area. The 62 Guards is wiped out as is Chuikov. 13 Guards is only half deployed. I could go on, but there are a lot of Guard Units.

The 6th Army suffers about 12k killed and 49k wounded. 4th Panzer is fairly intact. Let's say Kruschev is alive on the East Bank as is Zhukov. What if Yeryomenko is dead?

What is the end result? I mean doesn't it just boil down to they have the West Bank and the Russians have the right. I don't think that the Germans could cross the Volga at that point, could they?

So what is the result of this? Other than moral. What happens to Zhukov and Krushev? Can the Russians, and would they launch Operation Uranus? Does it make sense? What is the next move for the Germans? Do they continue towards the oil fields or do they consolidate gains?

I think they could have if Palus had linked up when "Pappa" Hoth asked to. I would really appreciate opinions.

The one clear thing is that the Germans are in a better situation with supplies.
