Following up a previou thread about an eventual involvement of the Carolingian/HRE in the Viking exploration of North America, I would like to discuss about how could it be an alternate colonization of the Americas with the following premises:
1) Starting earlier (at the late Viking era).
2) Starting in North America, not Mesoamerica.
3) Only one European power involved (hyper-Carolingia).
4) The 'colonies' in America have the same political status as the European duchies (i.e. creation of the Duchy of Markland is equal to creation of the Duchy of Finland).
As always, a fab map about this idea:
PD: I know that 'hyper-Carolingia' is a highly unlikely scenario, but the discussion here is about the hypothetical role of such an entity in the American colonization by the Europeans.
