Hyderabad Independent

Not much of a chance. The majority of the people wanted to join the Indian Union. The Nizam and his supporters tried to become independent and the Government of India annexed Hyderabad through a military action. The Government of India could not allow such a large territory inside the borders of India to go independent. The native princely states were given option to join either India or Pakistan. They were not given an option of independence. It was not much of a choice. A state surrounded by the territory of India couldn't join Pakistan or vice versa. The case of Junagarh was an example. Though the Nawab wanted to join Pakistan against the will of the people, India did not allow it. He was "persuaded" to sign the instrument of accession to join India.
