Humphrey Kennedy 68

I once read in an AH anthology a TL where RFK lives but Humphrey still wins the nomination. Which I think is the most plausible scenario. The TL had RFK becoming HHH' s running mate and a united Democratic Party winning the election. If this did happen, I think RFK would have trouble winning the 1976 election. The economy is bad and he would not have Carter's OTL Southern support. The happy ending I made up is that he remains popular and gets the 1980 nomination and wins during the recession and the hostage crisis. Then the administration of Robert Kennedy is remembered as a time of peace and prosperity. Anyway the question for all of you is would RFK accept second place on a national ticket?
