Assuming the English got to the Triple Alliance/Aztecs first (English Columbus in the north then later voyagers post-1500 began travelling south to look for a Central Passageway to Asia to bypass Portuguese African route monopoly), then what and how would the English approach to colonising or controlling Mexico ? The Triple Alliance/Aztecs has a lot of enemies around its borders and England is bound to get stuck in the politics of Mesoamerica.
Would England only enact trade policies and only establish a port city here and there ?
Would England try to pit the enemies of the Triple Alliances against Tenochtitlan and divide and conquer over the span of decades ?
Would England use its experience in Ireland as a way to dominate Mexico ? If so, then how would it go ?
Would England even conquer the region or not ?
Would England gradually conquer Mexico like with India except with deadly disease combined with on-and-off warfare and conquest ?
Essentially, what would England do at all ?
Would England place families into Mexico or single men like OTL Spain ?
Would England style Mexico as a dominion status, a viceroyalty, or some form of company administration ?
Would England develop a slave-economy Mexico or a non-slave economy Mexico ?
I can't think of any other choices so please state below what your thoughts in this scenario
