How would the British Empire have evolved following a reconquest of the Thirteen Colonies?

This is actually a really tough topic to dissect, because there are so many possibilities. As others have pointed out, eventually 'British North America' with sufficient representation in parliament (almost a necessity for the life of the state) will become the centre of power in the Empire. What happens next, in this case? You'll find many in London - old school parliamentarians - not too pleased with the capital of the empire moving to, say, Kingston, NY or whatever. The empire might evolve in such a way that we see Britain declaring independence from America, or, if the Americans aren't getting what they want, a second declaration from them.

Plus, the whole issue of slavery will rear its ugly head again eventually.

I'm not convinced that keeping the thirteen colonies will be a major hindrance to the British conquest of India, though; they had interest in India before the Seven Years War, so why would it wane?
