Theres still an existing line? I was of the beleife that the line, or direct line anyway, eneded with Napoleon IIIs son.
Napoleon's direct line died with his son Napoleon II. Napoleon III was the son of Louis Bonaparte, a younger brother of Napoleon.
After Napoleon IV's death, the next pretenders where descendants of Jerôme Bonaparte, Napoleon's youngest brother. In fact, there even was a conflict between Prince Jerôme Napoleon (Jerôme Bonaparte's son) and his son Prince Victor Napoleon because Napoleon IV had made Victor his heir. A conflict that didn't end well (father and son ended up hating each other to the point Jerôme tried to dishernerit Victor).
Victor is generally considered Napoleon V because of Napoleon IV's will. His son, Louis, is Napoleon VI. Currently, Napoleon VII is either Charles Napoléon, current head of the family, or his son Jean Christophe, depending on how you view Napoleon VI's will.

I was thinking the other way around, the Nazis try to Manchukuo-ise France and set up the pretender in lieu of Petain.
Given that the pretender at the time joined the Resistance, I don't see this happening. Furthermore, Hitler was kind of monarchophobic from what I understood. And besides, would the Nazis really have affections for the Bonapartes when the Germans fought againts both Napoleon I and Napoleon III in the past?

Why is Hollande so hated? I don't know much about modern French politics other than Jacques Chirac's corruption scandals (as foreign politics go, I follow Latin America more), so I'm curious.
Short answer: he got elected to kick Nicolas Sarkozy out. Since the situation doesn't seem to improve (in fact, many think it is worsening) despite the change of President, it backfired hard on Hollande.
For a longer answer, we need to take this to Chat.
