How would Seward handle the Indian wars as POTUS between 1868-72?

I plan on doing a TL in which Seward avoids the injuries from his carriage accident and assassination attempt that he suffered in OTL. And thus lives longer and in better health and ends up running as the Rep. candidate for 1868 and wins.

Leaving Reconstruction out of this, how would he handle issues in the west including the many warring native tribes and their conflicts with the US.

Any ideas at all?

Not really.

I'm under the impression he was a bit of expansionist and quite ruthless, so maybe he'd would be willing to countenance an even more genocidal policy on the ground, but that's just a guess.
