Let's say that Very Bad Things (tm) happen to the Bourbons, and with only 1-2 options left as successors a king accepts the Courtenays, a cadet branch descended from Louis VI, as Princes of the Blood rather than a female (which would violate Salic Law) - or maybe they just win a war of succession.
How would other Europeans react? Aside from old people jokes (believe me, I've got a few in the later parts of what I've written so far for "The Mighty Houses Have Struck Out").
My main question is their marketability as far as marriage. As an example, would Minette (Henrietta of England) accept marrying one right away after a Dauphin dies? Would royal houses wait till there is a Courtenay king and just lowly mangraves snap them up before, or what?
Oh, and would a mangrave be seen on the same level as a duke or what? I'm ponderign that butterflies might let Elizabeth of England (1635-1650) survive and wondered about a union between her and the mangrave of Hesse-Kassel.
Finally, would I be right in presuming I can do pretty much anything with Courtenay policies - not much would be known of the House orf Courtenay and I imgine that they'd be indebted to whomever actually made them Princes of the Blood and/or supported them.
