How Would 1864 Virginia Operations Be Affected If VI Corps Was Not Available?

Suppose that in the summer of 1864 following the end of Early's raid on Washington, the VI Corps of the Union Army was dispatched someplace in the West (Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, it doesn't matter) rather than sent against Jubal Early in the Shenandoah Valley. How would this affect the fighting in Virginia?

Possibly not very much - I'm not sure how strong 6th Corps is.

Early is still outnumbered and outgunned and outhorsed, but Sheridan is a worse general (although Early's cavalry will lose given any chance to do so, which really cripples him here).
