how to split the Hungarian and bohemian crowns?

So here’s something I’ve been contemplating recently how would one be able to get a split between the kingdom of Hungary and the kingdom of Bohemia from the time of the Luxembourg’s. What I mean is that one dynasty either the Luxembourg’s rules over Bohemia whilst a cadet branch or a entirely different family rules Hungary. On similar note how might one get the habsburgs to rule Austria and Hungary, but not rule Bohemia?

It is easy to split the crowns during Jagiellon times-just make John Albert successful in his struggle for Hungarian throne against his brother Vladislaus.

Interesting. So no habsburg Hungary?

frederick keeps the throne?

Either that, or in the peace treaty the fact that Bohemia had chosen a different king is represented in their getting a different one. Obviously things have to go differently, but I'vve always felt the Thirty Years War was one long series of: WTF, where did THAT come from?

A possible scenario I posted in another forum was for Louis II of Hungary to survive the Battle of Mohacs - losing Hungary to the Ottomans and/or John Zapolya, but keeping Bohemia and having at least one heir with Mary of Austria. It might also have some Lutheran/Protestant regional effects as well, but I'm not well-versed in religion.

Intriguing, do you think it’s possible if the Luxembourg’s or the senior line of the habsburgs under ladislaus survives?

oh that’d be very interesting

Have Wenzel of Luxemburg be a competent ruler and not a drunken idiot and sire a son, he isn't deposed by Sigismund and Jobst so he remains King of Bohemia while Sigi stays in Hungary.

Interesting, so then how might that change shit if Sigismund still has only s daughter

I was thinking the same thing just last night. I mean, Wenzel's one Wittelsbach wife was supposedly (according to the stories) torn apart by a pack of his favourite greyhounds - not to mention he killed St. Jan Nepomuk (although I can never rmeember if this was a later story or what actually happened) for refusing to divulge the secrets of the confessional (Nepomuk was the queen's confessor). So is it at all possible for Vaclav to be reasonably competent? And what happens if he leaves an underage son? Does Sigmund wrestle the Imperial crown away from him? And Hungary enters into PU with the Holy Roman Empire instead of Bohemia - which may sorta just go its own way (IIRC, Siggie and Vaclav didn't have the best of relationships OTL).

Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 fails. Hungry goes on its own without the Hapsbergs leaving Bohemia attached to Austria.

Autumn 1526-Ferdinand Habsburg fall from his horse and dies. John Zapolya is undisputed King of Hungary. At the same time Sigismund the Old encouraged by Bona claims Czech throne. Charles V would claim the thrones too, but would he be able to succeed now when his right hand in Germany (Ferdinand) is gone? I doubt it. With Sigi busy with Bohemia hunting accident from 1528 when Bona lost her child and was barren as result is likely butterflied away. So upon Sigismund I's death Sigismund Augustus gets Poland and Lithuania while Czech crown goes to his younger brother.
