How to make Norway independent 1814 - and how would the new state fare?

To Scandinavians on the board: Just how on earth do you avoid the Moss conventions of 1814, and make Norway an independent nation. An obvious start would be a Norwegian miracle at Rakkestad, where the two armies were gathering before Christian Frederik started negotiations for peace.

But how does Norway for instance gain recognition from the great powers, and how does economic development go without Swedens help? And what will happen in Denmark with a different monarch?

Can it be done without ASBs or Norwaywanks?

Ive been doing a bit of thinking on this. I don't really think that Norwegian independence is in the cards at the moment. However, the OTL agreement was, in form, simply a personal union. True the Norwegians had to turn over foreign affairs (and was there something else?). Anyway. If the Norwegians keep the loose confederation, they might regain functional independence (probably keeping the Swedish king as a purely constitutional monarch) in a decade or so...

If an independent Norway gets British backing... I think something could be done.

But 1814 may be not possible?
