The question is how popular would GW Bush be if he had been assassinated anytime between 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq?
Imo, I think he would have been considered one of the greatest presidents ever. He had the highest approval rating of ANY president after 9/11 (90%), the economy was in the upswing, and the single fact that any president that gets assassinated seems to be considered a martyr. With Cheney as president, I think he would have screwed up America even more than Bush, so the heavy contrast would really help Bush's image (think LBJ after Kennedy).
