How much influence did US presence have in negotiation leadning to WW2

My question is how much did the presence of the United States determince the appeasement going on leading up to world war two?

Did the British/French/Democracies have the idea that the United States was going to bail them out should they need help ala WW1?

You dont think the idea of always having someplace to run had a part of it?

Welll we can run to Canada...

Well we can to to USA...

Well we can run to South America...

A perception that the USA could be called for support, would have decreased appeasement, not increase it.

Exactly, with another Great Power backing them the British and French governments would have been reassured to an extent that they would have been more demanding with Germany.

Correct. When the US with held its support for French direct action in 1923 to enforce the Versailles Treaty reparations payments it was a major setback. Without solid support France could not take a aggresive interventionist course.
