How many states

in an ameriwank in which Canada and Nova Scotia join at the revolution as the 14th and 15th states and the rest of OTL Canada eventually ends up part of the USA how many states could be reasonably be made from this territory? Assume greater then OTL population for USA from both more immigration and higher birth rate.

Do New Brunswick and PEI get to be states? They were their own colonies at the time.

'Ontario' is likely to be separate from 'Quebec/Canada', as it's likely to be settled by New Englanders and New Yorkers. BC would be separate, too, being west of the mountains. Probably only one, though. Although, it's possible, with that early a PoD, that Washington+BC+Oregon+Alaska could end up as 2 or 3 or 4 states.

The Prairies are probably the biggest question. I'd imagine either 2 or 3 states. (And the states might just be the farmable prairie portions - e.g. most of Alberta, but only half of Saskatchewan and only the farmed bits of Manitoba ('greater Winnipeg' to exaggerate).

Edit: What about Newfoundland? Do the Brits keep that?
Actually, I don't see the Brits losing the Maritimes -they had too big a base at Halifax, but....

I believe it would be in the area of 63:
The original 50 states, with the additional:
- Yukon
- Columbia (OTL BC)
- Nunavut
- Ontario
- Toronto (Southern Ontario)
- New France (OTL Northern Quebec)
- Quebec (Southern OTL Quebec)
- Nova Scotia
- Manitoba
- Jefferson (OTL Saskatchewan)
- Jackson (named after General and later President Andrew Jackson, made up of Newfoundland and Labrador with Prince Edward Island)
- Lincoln (OTL Alberta)
- Roosevelt (named after General and later President Theodore Roosevelt OTL Northwest Territory)

How much bigger does this ITTL USA become over time (my view is that all of Mexico and Cuba/Putro Rico/Dominican Republic is included at least)?

You don't believe butterflies? If Americans get Canada during ARW it butterflies Lincoln and Roosevelt away. And many of these areas are similar as OTL provinces/territories which are created decades later.

But then when does it stop, once it integrates Mexico and Cuba, Porto Rico and Dominican Republic, why not continue south until all of the New World Americas (North and South) is united into the Union.

But if you have this you might as well go for Greenland as well, and Iceland is only a little way off from there, and if you start going into Europe, why stop.

You end up with the United Federal States of the World.

A few states are gained after the ARW such as I said with the war of 1812, so abe is three years old and most of states that are similar to OTL provinces/territories are the natives names for the area, just like Mississippi, North Dakota, Ohio, Kentucky and Alabama, so these stay similar.

And Cornelius Roosevelt is already in New York making his family a prominent name in the area, but I did not say OTL Teddy Roosevelt, he may have the same name as Theodore, but may not be exactly the same :D

And as for butterflies, I laugh in the face of butterflies

That's not unreasonable, but I too doubt the Americanized names both because of potential butterfly effects on those people, but also because those "Canadian" areas would probably choose more locally significant names.

If this Canadian statehood thing happened, it could have an impact on how the US partitions states -- most of these are larger than most US states. So, perhaps there are less states in what is now the US or Canada becomes more states than this.

Also, some of the boundaries of later states (NW area) may not wind up as distinctly US or Canadian. For instance, you could have a state that encompasses part of OTL Washington state and BC.

Well that is sort of what I was thinking, butterflies could possibly mean that the entire Americas, Pacific and Australia/New Zealand fall under the Stars and Stripes.

As for Europe well that depends on how they turn out, if they come closer together maybe they will prevent themselves from American annexation and thus there is a American-European Cold War.
