Inspired by Sid Meyer's Civilization, the Achaemenid Empire was the ur-Persian Empire, rapidly conquering and establishing an empire stretching from Anatolia to India, and could have very nearly put Greece under its control as well.

Now we knew how the Achaemenids could have survived (Darius III not being murdered, Philip II or Alexander III/Alexander the Great dying in battle, et.al.)

But the question of the matter is how long could the Achaemenids retain themselves as Emperors of Persia if they were not toppled by the Macedonians? Could they have gone to fight against Rome, assuming it's rise still happens as per OTL?
