In a situation where the Americans win the Revolution but fail to gel as a country (e.g. failure to meet to meet to revise/amend/supersede the Article of confederation), how long will it be before the before two or more of the ex-colonies start a shooting war with each other?

Would there be an era of good feelings that lasts through the lifetime of the revolutionary generation? Or would the reality of conflicting land claims and attitudes towards slavery, Europe etc. wear away the good feelings quickly?

Where do you see the war breaking out?

Many of the colonies had border disputes with each other, so it is likely that a war would break out almost immediately after it becomes clear that the concept of a federation has failed. I can't see every one of the 30 or so border disputes being put aside, and if it isn't put aside, it will lead to war sooner or later.

As stated above, to many disputes between territories and personal politicians egos would cause skirmishes to happen all along the coast.

BTW can I just say I love the "Peace for all time because we're all Americans." This would be a brilliant TL title of a US where the Civil War is avoided because of Abraham and Jefferson both hugging each and singing Kumbaya

Even with the colonies remaining one nation, there were OTL violent skirmishes between states over border disputes in the early days of the nation.

There's skirmishing over disputed territory over the Appalachians, and then there's war. What sort of war is being proposed?

I suppose organized, declared invasions with sizeable forces built on the intent of securing and taking territory.

That as opposed to local militiamen having a dick fighting contest with the statemen from across the pond that happens to involve a bit of shot and blood.
