How Far the..:Italians to Colonize

Well, Italy had a concession in Tianjin...but if you mean Romans or full blown Italian colonies...

I'm not as knowledgable about Rome, but Italy's best chance may be grabbing colonies in Asia before anyone else.

After OTL unification it might get Libya, more areas in Somalia, Abessinia and Levanti but I don't see that it could get much more.

About pre-unified Italy I can't say. Probably Kingdom of Two Sicilies has best changes. It might get Libya and Tunisia.

Post Unification:

- Tunisia can be put on the italian sphere of interest if we become enough chummy with Great Britain
- New Guinea was on advanced state of preparation for being aquired as colony but the British nixed, as above being chummy with them mean a different answer this time and in this case the island aquired by Germany from the Spain can be bought by Italy this time.
-Part of Borneo almost become Italian in OTL

Carving up of Turkey would give them some parts of Anatolia. It counts as Asia, right?

Yes, Asia Minor. Just look:

Since Rhodes and the other Dodekanese were Italian possessions, just giving Italy some mainland areas near Milas or Antalya would fulfill the OP demands.

And, by the way, was there ever a TL where a united Italy went explicitely after the former Venetian possessions?

Of the Western half, it certainly did; Morea, Crete, and Cyprus, if Italy seeks to and is in a position to dominate the Eastern Mediterranean, would be logical targets. The key thing is the conflict that it brings Italy into with Greece, which may be problematic, given the time Greece spent as being basically the pet country of France, Britain, and Russia.

Euboia may be pushing it, I think, Gallipoli certainly is, unless Italy has an end goal of conquering much of Greece and Turkey.
