I 'm thinking of doing a Ollie tl. My question is how far rank wise could he go? Could he be a Brigadier General Gulf War 1? Commanding a Marine division? Could he become commandant? Or does he labor as an obscure Colonel?
I am not 100% with the way Marine Officer's are promoted.
Federal law makes the basic promotion system uniform for all the services. North needs to avoid any hint of mental breakdown or craziness in the 1970s. He needs a better sense of politics as well.
I doubt if Oliver North could rise above colonel once his Iran-Contra shenanigans were revealed.
His type of back-door work would be better done by civilian contractors so Ollie would resign from the USMC and quietly work for an obscure numbered company running guns to whoever paid the best.
I'm sorry I meant to include in my op that Iran-Contra is not found out. North is promoted to a O-6. My question is where he goes from there. If possible I'm trying to get him as far as I can in the Corps with some sort of good combat record that eventually gets him to be a Senator from VA. To ASB?
@Carl Schwamberger thanks I knew enlisted promotion's work that way. I did not know how Officer boards worked.
