How far could communism have extended?

As in the number of countries practicing the ideology. Which other countries that didn't adopt it OTL would be likely to in this alternate world, and what's the furthest it could go?

Potentially a White Russia would counteract with Germany and make any Communist takeover on better footing. If this succeeds, some sort of Socialist German State will be established and have support for say Bela Kuns government in Hungary, going against Allied rulings. If the German people support the Communists, a good potential would be an attempt by the far right to overthrow the Communists and cause labor to support the communists against the far right.

With an early enough PoD potentially everywhere. Postwar Italy and Germany were hotbeds of radical unrest and agitation, which was a large part of the reason why the ruling classes turned to fascism to counteract the threat of Communism. Hungary was briefly Communist in 1919 and whilst their position was very precarious it might be possible for them to hold out long enough for Russian aid to arrive. Finland had a civil war in 1918 but the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk resulted in the Soviets pulling their support for the Reds. Perhaps if Soviet Russia accepted an earlier, less punishing, treaty with Germany they would be better able to support the Finnish Reds as well as be in a stronger position overall. During the Polish-Soviet War the Soviets could have taken all of Poland. During the 20s Spain was a delicately balanced house of cards that eventually came crashing down in the 30s. There was an attempted uprising in Bulgaria which ultimately filed although with better planning might have been able to escalate into a full-blown civil war.

Ultimately if Germany and Russia were both to go red and form an alliance in terms of economic and military power they would be all but unstoppable and would essentially win at Europe. That in and of itself would more or less guarantee a Communist hegemony on the continent.
