How does Gandhi's India do?

Disclaimer: I am aware this is probably ASB but it is an interesting question.
So, assume that a post -colonial India is organized completely according to Gandhi's ideas. How does that India do? What happens to it? What is the effect on the rest of Asia? Does Gandhi himself have any real power?

Well, a quick look at Gandhi's ideas reveal him to be a bit of an optimist. He was a self-described philosophical anarchist, he was against industrialisation and he had some very odd ideas about the best way to fight dictatorships. If his ideas were fully implemented in India I think that it would have been... interesting to watch. Possibly from a distance. :(

In that case, how would the Indian people react to the ideas of Gandhi being so thoroughly discredited?

Well in many societies you have things called Co-ops. I imagine some industry would exist to supply coops with things that cannot manufactured locally.

Gandhi was also big on self-discipline community building and promoting education. An india based on coops may bypass heavy industrialization in favor of light and cottage industry. The big question is how does such a system handle banking?
