How do you make operation unthinkable, thinkable?

Operation Unthinkable the brief plan for the Allies along with captured German PoWs to kick the Soviets out of Germany and Eastern Europe it was deemed as you would imagine, unthinkable but how could you make it a serious possibility?

How much better/worse does the war have to go? Do German PoWs go along with it? Another shot at the evil Bolsheviks?

Lets say everything goes as well for the Allies so you have all of the American and British forces along with the couple odd million captured Germans how long does this war last? Would the allies be content with just kicking the soviets out of europe or would they go for a "unconditional surrender" policy?

Would Stalin dig in or quickly bow down to the Western powers?

"possible" isn't really the right word for it.

If you would see humanity like they are in some fiction, like most post apocalyptic stories where humanity is aggressive, militaristic, merciless, arrogant, filled with bloodlust. Then yes, its a possibility operation unthinkable will be executed with every intent to make it succeed. That is, by throwing everything they got at the Soviets, using nukes, completely shut down diplomacy and rational thinking, go for absolute destruction of the enemy without an regard for the future.

Basically a humanity like in the Star Trek Mirror universe. Or worse, like the Draka.
