http://www.squidoo.com/padaneisThe Padanian language (or Rhaeto-Cisalpine ) is a western Romance language (see e.g. Wartburg [1950]), consisting in a homogeneous linguistic system made up by the Ladin, Gallo-Italic and Venetian dialects (Hull [1982], XL). It is spoken in the Po valley in central-southern continental Europe, extended to include the Alps, the Ligurian coast and the northern side of the Appenines, plus some exclaves in Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and Lucania (see map). It is also the language of some communities of migrants all over the world. It has developed from Latin in an independent fashion from Italian (an eastern Romance language in Wartburg's bipartition) and is strictly related to French, Occitan, and Catalan. This matter has been relatively neglected in recent years, apart from the monumental work by G.Hull (1982), as well as some papers and a book by Claudi Meneghin (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010).
I think Northern Italian having a popular coine could be a start just like Occitan...
