How Cheerleaders (in Pro Sports), Drill Teams and Pageant Girls Sing?

Question: Why do Cheerleaders and Pom Squads Sing?

Answer: The Only Time did happened is one NFL Team, The San Francisco 49ers at Kezar Stadium the cheerleaders were called The Niner Nuggets. They were known at the time as the only singing cheerleading squad in the NFL.

Now Let's Do A What If, Let's See How Cheerleaders (in Pro Sports) and Pom Squads Sing?

Well it all started back in 1928 when School drill teams were started by Gusie Neil Davis, she created the first drill team, then called a pep squad, at Greenville High School in Greenville, TX. They were called the Flaming Flashes and performed at halftime, then she created the World Famous Kilgore Rangerettes in 1940, after something had Changed, Gussie Neil Davis started making their first-ever Singing Routine for the Kilgore Rangerettes and so they did after World War II, In 1945 Davis created their first Song and Dance Routine for the Kilgore College Rangerettes and made it successful, the first song and dance high school drill team was started in 1946, later on in the 1960s Professional Cheerleading Teams were popular that the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders soon gained the spotlight with their revealing outfits and sophisticated dance moves, which debuted in the 1972–1973 season by performing their first ever song and dance routine.

Only for Pageants Broadway Style Production with Song and Dance Routines are popular today, for instance the Miss Universe Organization made popular by having the Opening Number in the 2011 Miss USA Pageant in which all 51 Girls performed to a song J.Lo called on the Floor (including Kaylin Reque who is one of the final members of the Blue Crew of the Atlanta Thrashers before hedding to Winnipeg and became the Jets and Kia Hampton who would later become a Pussycat Doll), State Pageants are still doing good too for example Miss Texas USA led the Pageant Music Business in Merchandising as the Miss Texas USA Pageant is run by the Crystal Group (directed by Al & Gail Clark and is still being televised today), and another powerhouse K2 Productions is still going strong with the Televised Miss California USA Pageant which the 2011 Pageant was a successful soundtrack (with some solo songs by Brittany McGowan, Allie Ibarra and others), today several Pageant Music and Vocal Drill Team Music (a.k.a. Vocal Dance Team Music) are going strong today.

I’ve always wondered about the reason that unlike other countries America has to have half naked girls cavorting about distracting you from the game. Then after watching American Football yesterday to satisfy my friends insistence that it’s “brilliant”, I can see why they need distraction, I’ve had more enjoyment watching paint dry.

So all Association Football needs to be good are cheerleaders?

I know what you mean. I was forced to watch cricket once by a Scotish co-worker it was horrible. That variety show the Royal family puts on around Christmas really made me wonder if there were any talented people in your whole united kingdom. But I did enjoy watching Hull City play football and BBC news is outstanding.

I think it really has more to do with what you grow up with. I was raised in a city that had a professional football team but no other professional sports so I never learned to enjoy baseball, basketball, or hockey. I imagine a I would have grown up in a different city or nation my choice of sport would be different also.

And British sitcom about the "white trash" family that has kids but you never see them is not funny at all. But I did enjoy watching Hull City play football and BBC news is outstanding.

I agree about the cricket like your baseball it's more fun to play than to watch. The Royal Variety Show is not entertainment it's to remind the Queen to toe the line or she has to watch more. All sitcoms be they American or British play to the lowest common denominator i.e. your white trash or the British chav's. Britain has not produced a good sitcom since the 70's early 80's then the decline began.
Watch out for the BBC news it's very biased to the lefty liberal Kensington trendy PC demographic.

Yes so Cricket and Soccer are popular in the UK but they less teams have a Cheerleading Squad (College-Style; No Singing is permitted for Cricket and Soccer Teams in the UK) but only Dance and Drill Teams (a.k.a. Vocal Dance Teams) which are really popular in the USA.

And What about in the Soccer (or Association Football) in the USA for High School Sports?
For instance in the state of Texas the University Interscholastic League where League Bylaws where every soccer team may mandatory utilize a drill team (or Vocal Dance Team) like captains are usually lead singers

- Friendswood Wranglerettes (Friendswood HS - Friendswood, TX) [Alyssa Waller]
- Keller Indianettes (Keller HS - Keller, TX) [Kayla Coston]
- Lake Travis Cavalettes (Lake Travis HS - Austin, TX) [Stacey Arnold]
- McNeil Majestics (McNeil HS - Austin, TX) [Victoria Gandara]
- Sealy Tigerettes (Sealy HS - Sealy, TX) [Morgan Zylka]
And So On.

[Note: Lead Singers in brackets]

Also the Univ. Interscholastic League will have the requirements that all soccer fields may have a goal horn when they score a goal, The horns are different depending on the teams, some even have sound effects such as an alarm or the foghorn of a ship, or both combined, Several High School soccer teams play their goal songs sung by the drill team complete with kicklines.

Here are Some High Schools that they use their Goal Horn Sound Effects

Bowie High School (Arlington, TX) - Boston Bruins
Centennial High School (Frisco, TX) - Washington Capitals
Denton High School (Denton, TX) - Winnipeg Jets
Hutto High School (Hutto, TX) - Calgary Flames
Richardson High School (Richardson, TX) - Montreal Canadiens

Silly Rabbit, Singing and Dancing Girls in the USA are for soccer games, but in the British Sport Soccer (or Association Football), They Can't because they had supporters some have Vocal Dance Squads, some don't like Manchester United and Arsenal.

Back in the United States: Beauty Pageants are really great for the Miss Universe Organization for example it's still airing on NBC by airing all 3 pageants (Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and Miss Universe), and is produced by Dick Clark Productions (named after Dick Clark who hosted the pageant from 1990-1993 for Miss Universe, 1988, 1990-1993; Miss Teen USA and 1989-1993; Miss USA), the music director is Ray Chew.

And Now A Profile of Jamie Solinger-Patterson
312733.jpg

Miss Teen USA
Patterson competed as Miss Iowa Teen USA in the 1992 Miss Teen USA pageant, broadcast from Biloxi, Mississippi on 25 August 1992.
Although the pageant was to be televised live, the threat of Hurricane Andrew meant the pageant had to be recorded earlier. Both Patterson and eventual first runner-up, Angela Logan of Oklahoma were taped "winning" the pageant to maintain suspense. Only Patterson's crowning moment was shown on television as the legitimate titleholder.
Patterson would become the first and only Miss Teen USA from Iowa and only the second teen from her state to place in the national pageant. Iowa would not place again until 1995 and 2003.

Miss USA
Patterson won the title of Miss Iowa USA in 1998, and competed in the 1998 Miss USA pageant alongside Shauna Gambill of California who was Miss Teen USA in 1994.
This would be the last time any former Miss Teen USA titleholder would take part in a Miss USA pageant. Before them, Kelly Hu competed in 1993 and Brandi Sherwood in 1997.
This would also be the second and last time two Miss Teen USA winners would compete in the same Miss USA pageant. The only other time this happened was in 1984, when Ruth Zakarian and Cherise Haugen competed with a Miss Teen USA sash, following an old rule from the Miss Universe Organization that allowed them to compete without going through the state pageant system.
After completing her year as Miss Iowa USA, Jamie crowned her sister Jaclyn as Miss Iowa USA 1999. They are one of few pairs of sisters to compete at Miss USA, and only second to win the same title in subsequent years. It would not happen again until 2003-2004 when sisters Alicia and Justine Michioka won consecutive Miss Hawaii USA titles.

After Pageants (when she Sang in Pageants)
She Decided to Concentrate on Solo Career but she plans to release her 3rd album in 2012.

When Did Jamie Sings in Pageants (Miss Universe Organization Only)

Miss Teen USA 1993 - Keep It Comin' (along with the 51 Miss Teen USA Delegates of 1993 including Charlotte Lopez; That song was later updated in 2003 f/ Jocelyn Enriquez - Musical Number)
