How can Japan not attack the US in 1941?

Just it is obvious that their reality did not conform to objective reality and when they collided, the reality of the Japanese shattered. It took them three years to acknowledge this, but it was over on June 5th, as the last flames on Hiryu were extinguished by Pacific Ocean.
I do & I don't disagree. It still makes them look nuts. (Argument over their grasp of reality is kind of unhelpful in context.;))
