How can Austria-Hungary and Germany get separate peaces, with Austria winning and Germany loses WWI?

Is there anyway we can get a scenario where Austria avoids most of their disasters (like most of 1914, the Brusilov Offensives, and some of their worst battles with Serbia), defeat their primary foes (Russia collapsing again, Romania and Serbia being overrun again, bleeding Italy completely white and forcing they're withdrawal), have Germany and the Ottoman Empire collapse by the end with similar to OTL treaties imposed on them, while Austria stabs Germany in the back getting its own peace treaty recognizing their victories over Serbia/Romania/Italy?

Perhaps a few concessions are made in regards to Poland by Austria, but not much more. A scenario where Austria-Hungary averts famine while Germany goes through it, and generally ends the war with the military and political system intact (and stronger than ever with their rivals all defeated).

Can this be done with the OTL war with substantially more competent Austro-Hungarian leadership and moderately less competent German? Would the allies possibly be willing to allow this?

You'd have to do it before Wilson appears with his idea concerning nationalism, which means either

a) The U.S. never enters the war, which would actually make the Allies more desperate for aid, something the Austrians could employ for their purposes, or
b) The war ends before 1917

I did a scenario about this last year - still unfinished (maybe I will restart it some time)

When FJ dies Karl could act more decisevely - instead of playing Germanys dog he could try to force them to a real peace offer and when Germany decides to fight on start separate peace negotiations.

You need a good offer for the Entente, but consideruing that neither Britain nor France has any direct war aim against Austria they might decide that reining in Italys and letting Serbia dangling would remove Austrian troops from the equation and make t easier to defeat Germany.

end of 1916 was sort of a highwater mark for the CPs on the battlefield - the ENtente offensives were more or less defeated, Jutland a German victory (at least it proved that eeven a superior RN could not soundly defeat the German fleet ) The OE was still doing failry well against the Brits and Russians...

Romania was turning to the Entente and was defeated quickly (forcing the Russians to cover an even klarger front themselves)

It'd be some sort of MAJOR divergence to get that to come off without ASBs. Maybe a far better Austrian General Staff in the aftermath of the 1866 defeat? Kaiser Wilhelm II selects more 'bad' Generals (at Division and Corps level) rather than just the Head of the General Staff?

Well, you need the Austrian willing to give something to Italy as OTL were not and even the rest of the Entente can't let one of their biggest member dry without some compensation, expecially if the Hapsburg promise are a little too vague.
Basically something to let Paris and London save face with Rome (even considering the fact that if they want keep it in the war they will need to give her some other concession) and some more clear term from Wien.

Serbia can be dealt retreating the troops but put on the throne someone more pliabe to Wien desire with some economic and military agreement that basically transform the place in a puppet (repeat that for Montenegro).

Emperor Karl goes "Screw this!" and accepts all of the French conditions laid out during the negotiations of the Sixtus Affair. The Germans overreact and try to occupy Vienna, but fail, thus allowing Karl to declare war on Germany.

Trouble is that by 1917 some two-fifths of the NCOs and junior officers in the KuK army were actually Germans, seconded to A/H by her ally. That's a ginormous fifth column. And many Germans and Magyars were more loyal to the German alliance than to the Habsburg dynasty. It's almost certainly too late by then.

Even if the KuK Army fights the Gemans in the condition you've listed (which they wouldn't, IMO) they'd still get beaten. By '17 the Kuk was a husk, grimly hanging on for dear life.

Saying that, where does Germany get the troops from to invade A-H and what quality are they?
