How Big Could South Africa Get Post 1945?

A thought occurred to me, could have South Africa annexed Rhodesia, Angola and Mozambique? Would the Portuguese sold or traded Angola and Mozambique to South Africa? That would have solved South Africa's oil problem. Would the Apartheid South Africa still be around?

All pretty unlikely unless something like a nuclear war occurs. SA Whites did not want to be more outnumbered by Blacks, I could see a plausible desire for the British colonies and perhaps even success under some unusual circumstances but even there it's pretty hard. The Portuguese colonies I just don't see happening, no desire on either side.

1948 is too late, once Apartheid is implemented then there's no way SA will expand.
Now if we can avoid apartheid its wouldn't be unreasonable to see Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland handed over to SA, though I would suspect it would be as on the provision that the rights of Blacks are protected. Also without apartheid and the rise of SWAPO you could expect Namibia to develop alongside South Africa without ever becoming independent.
I imagine if Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland are given to South Africa it would have to be under some special territorial status that protects them from SA's racist laws.

It's actually more likely it will shrink, since like everyone says the whites did not want to be a minority for obvious reasons

Now, it could happen with apartheid as well, but they would have to do it right. So people are segregated (but not go completely overboard with segregated buses that's literally autistic), but treated actually equally, which is nigh-impossible because it isn't in the interests of certain people, and would cost money

If Ronald Reagan is elected in 1976, then we could see tactical US support for a South African invasion of communist Angola from Namibia.

South Africa had not the slightest intension of annexing Angola, though; it simply wanted UNITA to prevail over the Soviet-backed MPLA. (Technically speaking, South Africa never even annexed South West Africa, although the whites there were represented in the Parliament of South Africa.)

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure South Africa's motive was. Did it want to expand, wipe out communism, or even if it was a race thing
