Before the infamous Houston Mutiny of 1917, black soldiers stationed in different parts of the US- not just the Deep South- & despite their excellent military record, were subjected to Jim Crow discrimination by local whites who objected to the presence of black soldiers although the latter were ostensibly present to protect the former from bandits, hostile Indians, etc- even in places with miniscule black populations such as the Dakotas. Now, WI at some point during this 1865-1900 period, a group of aggrieved Buffalo soldiers, in some town where they'd suffered severe bigotry (perhaps in such an event as 1 or 2 of their members being kidnapped & lynched by a local mob, followed by the local sheriff's refusal to investigate, then cont'd local discrimination leading to many- if not all- members of the Buffalo Soldiers present deciding to arm themselves & shoot it out with the local bigots), decided to take justice into their own hands as occurred with members of the 24th Inf Regt at Houston ? Would the Army have then totally disbanded the Buffalo Soldiers & refused to let blacks sign up at all ?
