What if Henry VIII didn't divorce Anne of Cleves and they had a son? this is a TL focused on that. Enjoy and please give feedback!
---------------------
On 6 January, 1540, Princess Anne of Cleves was wed to King Henry VIII of England. She was crowned Queen Anne of England. This marriage, though blessed by love, was political as England and the Lutheran princes of the Holy Roman Empire sought to be allied against France and Spain.
Anne of Cleves was soon pregnant with a fourth heir for the King. On 16 August, 1541, Anne gave birth to a healthy son, Prince Henry, after a long and difficult labour. Henry was overjoyed with a second son, whom he christened Duke of York. The realm celebrated this child.
In Scotland, James V died on 14 December, 1542, and his daughter Mary became Queen of Scots. The Queen Mother, Marie of Guise, and James Hamilton, Earl of Arran ran the kingdom of Scotland for the baby Mary Queen of Scots.Arran was primarily focused on securing himself as Mary's heir against his rival, Matthew Stewart, Earl of Lennox. Arran betrothed Mary to Prince Edward of England in hopes of securing Henry VIII as his ally and appeasing the parties of England and Scotland. However, Marie refused and took her baby from Arran's care, ending the bethrothal. Henry was furious and invaded Scotland in a series of campaigns known as the Rough Wooings. Lennox allied with the English but was defeated. The English burned scores of towns and villages and even sacked Edinburgh. Mary was therefore betrothed to Francis of France and the infant was shipped to France for safe-keeping*.
Prince Edward befriended the baby Prince Henry and they played harmoniously together. This was partly because both were raised as Pritestants. Henry's daughters, Mary and Elizabeth were less than pleased as they had been bastardised and were now further behind in the succession.
In his later years, Henry grew fatter and had rotting ulcers on his legs**. On 30 March, 1548, Henry VIII one of England's greatest and most tyrannical kings passed away from this world. 9-year old Prince Edward became Edward VI, with his uncle, Edward Seymour, Earl of Hertford, as regent. The Dowager Queen retired to her numerous estates in England. On 29 April, 1548, Prince Edward was crowned King Edward VI.
*The Rough Wooings went the same TTL as OTL.
**As his marriage to Catherine Howard is butterflied away, Henry is less depressed and so doesn't quench his sadness in food somuch.
