House of Battenberg ruling Belgium

Is it possible for the House of Battenberg to rule Belgium because they are the descendants of the Royal House of Brabant in the male line.

It would not be easy (if you mean Prince Louis etc, now Mountbatten) as they are Protestant. Also the Belgian royal line never went to the female, so even if one did marry a princess and converted they would not have become king.

Of course, alternate history can allow you to change anything in a timeline and it would make sense within that timeline, but outside of it as a point of discussion it seems less so

Your best bet is to create a succession crisis with no Prince Albert as nephew and heir to Leopold II. The Belgians have no choice but to allow female succession, Leopold's eldest daughter Louise becomes heiress.

Louise was the right age for the four Battenberg princes, although why the heiress to the Belgian throne would want to marry a penniless morganaut is something you will need to answer.

Their son would be a Battenberg.

The main house of Hesse branch (cadet branch of the house of Brabant (Leuven) aka house of Reginar*) is also still around.

Besides IOTL king Leopold of the Belgians remained a Lutheran, but he agreed to raise his children Catholic. IMHO a candidate of the house of Battenberg or Hesse can and must do the same ITTL.

(*= house of Reginar and house of Brabant is like Robertians and Capetians)

Keep 'Belgium' as part of the United Netherlands: Obviously no problems about a Protestant marrying into their royal family...
