Horror Movie WI: No Last House on the Left

I have a Horror Movie one this time:

What if the movie The Last House on the Left never gets made?

How does that affect the horror film industry?

What becomes of Wes Craven?

Did LHotL really have a big Impact?

as for Craven, I imagine he'll still make a few films, namely The People Under the Stairs and The Serpent and the Rainbow, but he may not be as famous as In OTL.

Sean S. Cunningham

Well, if LHOTL isn't made, Friday the 13th may never have happened. The reason: Sean S. Cunningham. He was the Producer and Director of that movie. If he never had anything to do with Last House, he would have never had anything to do with Friday the 13th, and who knows? Maybe no Freddy Kreuger or other movies that may have been influenced in a small way by Friday the 13th.

Also, one less movie would be remade today(why are we remaking films in the first place).

Does this also stop Craven making The Hills have Eyes?

Anyway, there were other controversial films like I Spit on you Grave and Ms .45 to fill the gap. But the loss of Freddy Krueger would have interesting effects on eighties' cinema.

But to what extent was that movie ('Nightmare') just an R-rated version of Poltergeist in the first place?

LATE EDIT: Ms .45 isn't a seventies movie, but it's certainly in the same category of low budget, 'revenge' exploitation picture.
