The glory of the Hittites.

In this Tl the battle of Quadesh ends in Hittite victory with Ramses dead. SO in this Tl after the Hittites under Muwatillis invade the camp instead of looting they eliminate all of army group Amun under the personal command of Ramses the Great of Egypt who gets slain in battle. With Ramses dead the Egyptian resistance crumbles and using the brilliant Hittite soy system the other three groups of Ramses army are destroyed. With the Egyptian army destroyed the Hittites advance across the Levant with little to no opposition while Egypt gets embroiled in a civil war. Mursil dies of poisoning in this Tl so Mursili never takes the throne from Muwatillis by winning the disastrous Hittite civil war. Basically this is a Hittite Tl and I plan to continue to modern day.

It is the year 1274 BC

Ramses and the Egyptians were camped at the river Orontes. Just recently Ramses had received word that the Hittites were still far away and now was the time act. They would march on Kadesh and take the city from the so-called Hittites. Ramses was utterly confident about his victory.

Muwattilis and the massive army of 40000 infantry and 25000 charioteers already arrived at kadesh, the fact was simple, Muwatillis let his two spies get captured and ill inform Ramses and was making preparations for attack. However his close ally Urbi Teshub hesitantly talked. “ My great king as you knows our original plan relied only on charioteers but I want to make a change that would be wise to heed. Our spies have informed us that the Egyptians have an army numbering only 20000 men, under four divisions. Amun under Ramses is by itself he has foolishly been misled by the spies, however it would be advisable to also send in our infantry during the assault.”
Muwatillis frowned “ What but they must defend the baggage.”

“ Listen to me my king we are attacking a large camp our chariots will most likely not be enough so I suggest you bring 20000 of our 40000 infantry from our army abed allies and completely destroy Ramses force. We will launch a two fronted assault, one will cross from the north made up of 1400 charioteers and 10000 infantry while the other division made up of 1100 charioteers and ten thousand infantry will attack the Ra division. In such manner the Egyptians will crumble for they will not expect our attack. All we need is for one division to fall then we can trap the other division and slaughter them. The Amun division has Ramses elite troops so I will lead that assault catch them by surprise and with the chariots overwhelm the royal force while you my king will disperse Ra where Ramses is located and in such manner both Egyptian forces will be wiped out. What say you my king will you agree.” Muwatillis stopped and thought for a moment
“ Urbi I understand what you have said to me and I agree completely. SO what I will do is that we will go ahead with your assault plans. We march at dawn.

Soon Urbi led the army to attack the amun division. It was the dead of night and most of Ramses camp was asleep, they were completely unprepared because they had no idea the Hittites were already here. Urbi soon gave the signal and the troops charged at the elite guard. Most Egyptian elite forces were still asleep and at the Hittite war cry were stunned. The sentries raised alarm but they were cut down. The Hittite chariots smashed through the camp. The royal guards who hastily picked up their weapons were cut apart, even worse the 10000 infantry launched their assault and in the ensuing chaos the Egyptians lost ground. However a detachment of 2000 Hittite infantry had carried torches. Soon they threw the torches into the Egyptian camp. The flames set ablaze the various tents and people just waking up were burnt alive. In such a manner the whole camp was looted and soon every man was slaughtered none were spared. In such a quick fashion the Amun division was destroyed.

Meanwhile Muwatillis and his force launched the assault on Ra commanded by Ramses. Ramses who was half sleep was stunned when he heard the yelling. The Hittites smashed into the camp and completely caught off guard the Egyptian force crumbled and soon dispersed. However Ramses fought on fiercely like a lion slaying many Hittites but in the end it was futile. Soon tired Ramses was shot in the heart by an arrow. Stunned Ramses fell to the floor. The Great king of the Egyptians was no more. At the death of Ramses the Ra division lost hope and quickly crumbled. Son ra was destroyed. In a similar manner the remaining two Egyptian divisions were destroyed. Finally at kadesh the next morning Urbi met Muwatillis. Muwatillis smiled and laughed both were dead tired and soon the army rested at Kadesh. The battle was a complete and total Hittite victory. This had far reaching consequences.

By the end of the year 1274 the Hittites met little resistance from Egyptian forces due to the complete and utter destruction of the Egyptian army and the death of Ramses. Soon the Hittites advance up to Gaza. Muwatillis halted the advance if he continued he would invade Egypt itself and soon preparations were being made for the invasion.

. However disaster struck, seizing the opportunity Adid Nirari I of Assrya thought that with the Hittites busy fighting Egypt he could seize Mitanii and cannan from Hattusha. So in 1273 B.C the Assyrians invaded Mittani. When news reached Muwatillis he was stunned. With Mittani bin trouble Hattusha had no real army left to defend its borders and realizing this Muwatillis knew he had to make a choice either continue onto Egypt and lose canan or make piece and seize the Levant from Egypt and crush Assyria. He chose the latter option. Soon envoys were sent to Egypt and Muwatillis turned the massive Hittite army around for an invasion of Assyria.

Meanwhile back at the capital Muwatillis uncle Mursili was poisoned. Many do not know who poisoned him but due to poisoning he died. Now Mursili had been planning on seizing the throne of Hatttusha but sadly after being poisoned his plans came to an abrupt end. So with the death of Mursili Muwatillis position was secure.
