Hittite hegemony A TL

I'm also confused... Why did a civil war even break out? Ramesses's eldest son and heir, Amenhirkhepeshef, was still alive and well, and capable of taking the throne... Unless HE was the one who dies of a sickness (he didn't in OTL, but butterflies, maybe?), but that still just means that the throne will pass to his younger brother prince Ramesses, and if HE's out of commission it will simply go to prince Khaemwaset*... None of these sons even has to be particularly strong, as Nefertari seems capable enough of ruling as a regent like Hatshepsut (initially) or Tawosret (also initially). None of the generals would be in much of a position to challenge this arrangement, as they would all be either dead at Kadesh or small fry incapable of making a credible claim to the throne.

[*Khaemwaset was technically 4th in line to the Horus Throne, but the son in the 3rd position, Pareherwenemef, was present at Kadesh so presumably in TTL he's dead)

Also, bear in mind that Egypt still controls Nubia, which was its major cash-cow anyway, so even though the defeat at Kadesh will wound it BADLY, it can't be put out of commission economically, at least not quickly.
Oh shizz you are right. Well you see during the later war virtually all the sons are killed on the battlefield due to Hittite victories. That is what happens. I just failed to mention it. Also yes egypt isnt out completly but is just recovering from a war. it is still a threat to Hattusha but for now they are rebuilding their forces inn preparation for a counteroffensive.
