Hittite-Egyptian Unified Kingdom?

IOTL, shortly after King Tut's death, the Egyptian queen offered to marry the son of the Hittite Emperor. This could have led to the unification of the 2 empires, as Egyptian royal lineage was traced through the queen. However, the Hittite was killed by assassins before he entered Egypt. WI the Hittite and Egyptian empires unified at this time, right after Tut's death?

I doubt they could merge entirely, the cultures were to different and the nationalism to great.

Perhaps a short-lived personal union can be possible?
It might lead to a long-term alliance between them (watch out, Mitanni :(), or even more wars if the kings are claiming eachother's thrones'...

Also, the son sent by the Hittite King was not the crown prince, it was one of his younger sons. So there would still have been two separate kingdoms, but the Egyptian kingdom would have been ruled by a dynasty descended from a Hittite prince. I can see the two empires being allied for a while, but as you say, more than likely it falls apart relatively quickly and they return to warring with each other.

I don't think the political system was developed enough at this time for personal unions. But idk :p

Well about twenty years after this The Hittites and Egyptians started an alliance against the Assyrians. There is no way of merging the two kingdoms, but an earlier alliance, and a stronger front against the assyrians is possible.
