What do you think Hitlers final goal was?

In fiction, they would have you believe he wanted to conquer the world. Some historians agree with this, while others say he just wanted control of Europe.

I've also heard that he thought war with the United States was inevitable, which was why h declared war on them after Pearl Harbor. That could means something?

Your thoughts?

Well in the sequel he wrote to Mein Kampf he did think that there would be war with the United States, but not in his lifetime. He thought that he himself would just achieve German hegemony in Europe and conquer the Soviet Union. In the book he predicted the German Reich and the US would fight the final battle for world domination some time around 1980. He saw this as a task for his successor.

The reason he declared war on the US after Pearl Harbor is that he hoped the Americans would be occupied fighting Japan for a long while and that they would focus on that, giving him the time he needed to finish of the Soviets. He worried that if he didn't declare war than the Japanese would know they could never beat the Americans alone and would capitulate and seek a separate peace, leaving the US free to attack Germany before Hitler was finished in Europe. I know that sounds like bizarre reasoning given the facts, but it really is how Hitler thought.

I would say that he did envision the German Reich dominating the world eventually, but that in his lifetime he was only actively trying to conquer Europe.

I voted other.

Hitlers World view was concieved on a different basis than a simple geographic division. In hitlers mind the world would be re-structured on racial lines , with Aryans (or his perception of them) at the top of the heirarchy , followed by the other races , with slavs and jews at the bottom. Restructuring the map was a part of this. Hitler saw his "superior" race as taking its rightfull place in domination of eastern europe , using its resources to expand. Howver , it is not the land itself that is important (Hitler just wanted it for its agrarian land) , but the peoples occupying it at the time , the slavs. Hitlers world plan was not based directly on the conquest of the land itself , but in reshufling the resources , and by extension , the racial order.

I agree with this pretty much. Generalplan Ost shows how Hitler intended on reshaping europe after the war, in taking out the slavic races one by one, deporting them east, or exterminating them.
