What if when Hitler invaded Russia he fought a war of true liberation. I mean no atrocities, no S.S. Nothing but big billboards of Hitler giving out bread to Ukrainian babies. Freeing the Ukrainians and Belarus and setting these two nations up as free states. He could of made the a combined Pole-Belarus republic and given the poles back a nation to fight for.
True free states with there own armies supplied with top of the line Germany equipment and training. Then Germany just lets these two nations fight it out with the Russians in a war of attrition. Do you think this bleed the Russians strategy would of worked? Ukraine, Belorussia and Poland had large populations and could of supported a sizable joint army.
Stalin's starvation of the Ukrainians in the 1930's killed 10 million so they were no friends of Russia. The Poles were no friends of the Russians either after being invaded and the massacre at Katyn.
So what do you think, would these two nation giving their freedom would have been able to keep the Russians at bay or at lest bleed them to the point were they would have been defeated by the Germans?
I've always wonder what a friendly german liberation would have gotten them. The whole S.S. and Untermensch thing didn't work very well for them.
