Hitler serves in other armies in WW1

Since Hitler was an Austrian who served in the Bavarian Army during WW1, it got me thinking; what if he joined other armies like his own native Austro-Hungarian Army? or the Prussian Army? or the German Navy or Air force instead of a land army? or the French Foreign Legion? or he could even pass off as a Baltic German and fight in the Russian Army? If any of these POD's occured, what could Hitler's fate be?

As a young teen Hitler and his family move to the United States and settle in Cleveland, Ohio. He becomes enchanted with books about the American Civil War and the Indian Wars. Young Hitler supports his new country in not joining the war against the Germans, but in 1917 when war breaks out he tries to live out his fantasy by joining the US Army. He is amongst the first of the US soldiers to arrive in France and survives much of the war, finally in late summer of 1918 he is charging across no mans land when a German Jew machine gunner turns him into Swiss Cheese. Hitler dies anonomously, his name forgotten. Years later he is returned to the US and buried in the tomb of Unknown Soldiers.

If Hitler could avoid the AH army but join Barvaria's there is no reason why he couldn't join almost any German and several other armies. I read that he pleaded to be allowed to join when war hysteria was at it's highest, so I think almost any recruiter would give in to such earnestness.

He may have been killed, or fought in a different theatre, been on a winning side or any number of possibilities. Most of these probably wouldn't see him become head of the Nazi party and being in a position to genocide Jews.

Hitler's OTL unit (6th Bavarian Reserve Division) never saw action on the Eastern Front. It might be interesting if he saw action on the Eastern Front either in the same unit or a different unit. If he participated in 2nd Masurian Lakes where the Germans attacked in blizzard and sustained a large number of exposure casualties might he have made different decisions in late 1941.
