Hitler not anti-Semitic

How would Germany and World War II developed had Hitler not been anti-Semitic? I remember hearing that his family had Jewish nannies, tutors, or something like that when he was growing up.

At the very minimum, I can see the Holocaust averted (or a different set of ethnic groups persecuted, if any). Furthermore, Oppenheimer, Einstein, et al might have stayed in Germany, giving Germany a chance at the Bomb instead of the United States.

Anything else?

Thanks in advance,

Pre WWI the patrons for Hitler's painting were purely Jewish and he was said to have formed a friendship in the poor house with a number of Jews.

WWI and Hitler was awarded the IC2 on the basis of the recommendation of a Jewish officer.

So the question is: why was he not pro semtic? (Maybe he lent one of his Jewish mates his 24 Season 1 DVD and it was never returned. Certainly a good enough reason to start a World War and Mass Genocide in my book...)

What a bizarre yet enticing question. Why was Hitler anti-semitic?

Many reasons:

1) He couldn't get into an art college as a youngster. He blamed the Jewish professor rather than admit that the failing was his own.

2) He wanted to blame Germany's and his own failings on someone, Jews were just the easiest target to pick.

3) The Great Depression was very painful for Germany, in an era of both great suffering and anti-Semitism some blamed the Jews on Wall Street.

4) Karl Marx, the father of Nazism's great enemy: Communism was a Jew.

In the end it was illogical and inhumane hatred in an impoverished and insane era taken to a very extreme conclusion. It's such a tragedy, what's worse is the whole nightmare will one day be repeated if humanity doesn't start talking about it's problems. There was nothing special or inherently evil about Germany for it to develop Nazism, it could have happened anywhere.

But to answer the original question: I doubt it would have been much different. Hitler would have still strove for a German future so I suspect it would have been just a fascist country, a cousin to Mussolini Italy with similar policies and ideas.

Sounds like a group therapy session is in order.

Shia's: I am just so tired of constantly being pushed around by the Sunnis!

Therapist: And how does that make you feel?

Don't forget the big thing:

There is evidence Hitler had Jewish ancestors. It would be cool, an alternate history where he was pro-semitic and encouraged racial tolerance and whatnot, and maybe he just blames the French or something, that's what everyone does. :D

Thus, the swastika wouldn't be such a big terror symbol. Also, without anti-semitism a bunch of National Socialist stuff falls out. Maybe after being jailed he just shuts up and becomes a mediocre painter or something.

No, there is no evidence that Hitler had Jewish ancestors.

Yea I agree there no evidence and just some rough possibility, anyway even if he had Jewish ancestor he certainly wasn't raise into Judaism, we probably give credential to that possibility because it would be ironic/interesting.

Well, Hitler needed a political tool (to take money from, to blame for stuff, etc). And since anti-semitism was strongly around during that era, Jews were sort of an obvious choice. Blaming for example Polish, but have resulted protests from Poland, but blaming Jewish could not result protests from their "motherland" since there wasn't one at the time.

And you have to remember that several western countries had used Jews as a political tool and expelled (=what Hitler tried to too several years) them during the previous centuries.

It might make quite a few differences in Germany, its hard to say how big....

Hitler may actually get into power earlier if is there is Pro-Semitism and he has a quite a few more Jewish supporters. There are quite a few changes it will have on society when all of the Jews don't need to emigrate. All of the famous writers and artists, doctors, teachers and even officers remain. Not to mention the effects it has on the scientific community with all of the scientists and engineers remaining.

It also means that a lot less resources are used for the persecution of the Jews, and it may mean a lot less activities by the execution units....
