Hitler never meets Theodore Morell

As much as I dislike topics having multiple topics on a certain Austrian gentleman, I felt this was too interesting to pass up. I was looking through Wikipedia as a result of the School Debate - Was Hitler Insane? thread when I came across an article on Theodore Morell.

Apparently, Morrell was a German doctor known for his unconventional and dangerous treatments. He met Hitler in early 1936, after supposedly curing Heinrich Hoffman of gonorhea. Horrell promised Hitler that he could cure him of all of his medical problems in a year. Soon after, Theodore became a part of Hitler's inner circle.

Now the problem with Morrell is that he had absolutely no idea what he was doing. His drugs oftentimes worsened Hitler's condition. At one point, he perscribed Hitler with methamphetamines and cocaine eyedrops for mild stomach pains. Unsuprisingly, historians have regarded him as an opportunist quack. Hitler was esseintially the man's guinea pig until about the end of the war.

Horrell was a major influence on Hitler's health, both physically and mentally. A Hitler without Hoffman means a somewhat more rational and healthy man.

So, what if Morell is not given a recomendation by Hoffman and never meets Hitler?

Health effects mental states, so I see a more healthy, or at least less drugged up Hitler making more rational decisions, but the man was a gambler for years, which had gotten him into his position and helped score major political and military victories (i.e. the France and Weserübung). The major question is whether Hitler suffered from Parkinson's and/or Syphilis, which your article seemed to suggest as a possibility. If that is the case, not much changes, as he is fundamentally ill and incurable. Now if that is not the case and his symptoms came from long term drug addiction, then things are very different, as he is then more fundamentally sound and capable of making rational decisions, but given his unbalanced mental state in general, perhaps not.

The first article suggests he caught syphilis in 1908 from a Jewish prostitute, which might have caused most of his problems and influenced the entire trajectory of his life and the history of the world. Basically he was very hung up on the nature of the disease, which he considered to be hereditary to the Jews and devoted several pages of his book to combating the disease. Another suggestion in his mind was that he had it congenitally through a Jewish ancestor.

The best POD would be if he were not ill with Syphilis of whatever other ailment he had. Then MANY things would be different, but probably would still keep the same trajectory of history, as the fundamental cause for his rise still exists.

He would be more capable of grasping new concepts and be willing to budge on certain issues that he was not as well versed on as his generals.

Morell practically oozes "quack" in terms of his medical treatments of hitler; cocaine injections amongst other, strange treatments which I honestly can't remember he was a wackjob for sure

A 1940-44 (not sure the actual year) psychological analysis of Hitler did show that much of Hitler's personality and actions were bordering that of a person suffering from Schizophrenia and also Hysteria. So, most likely, he was suffering from a mental illness, but many are still divided as to what it was if there was any.

I do not deny that Hitler had some severe mental problems, however I think that he would have been somewhat more stable if he had not been injecting himself with random chemicals every few hours.

Getting the right physician is also important. If Hitler can get a good doctor to serve him, then he might be able to treat some of the conditions we believe he had.

IMVHO I wonder if it affects anything on a macro scale

OK, he may have been more personally healthy, more able to focus, but he was no strategic geniuis, and he was manic whether with this or without

Its hard to see how even swapping one mania for another would have helped. I guess its POSSIBLE that without being ill he would have gone off the rails, tried his hand too early against an inner opponent, and met with a stronger resistance

wait! crazy theory:

Morell was a time traveler from the future! He came from a future where a more rational Hitler had succeeded in conquering the world and turned it into a bad place to live. He decided to go back in time and get close to Hitler, so that he could stop him from taking over the world. For years, he intentionally injected Hitler with drugs that did no good and made him worse. He hoped to eventually poison Hitler with his "treatments" and succeeded in making sure that he never took over the world!

It makes sense if you don't use any rational thought at all!

Well in that timeline Hitler was rational so obviously they wouldn't do anything he did!
