Hitler killed June 17th 1944

Somebody just gave me 23 of the Time-Life books on WW2. Was flicking through one and found an interesting story. On June 16/17 1944, Hitler was meeting with Rundstedt and Rommel at Margival in France. Shortly after the meeting finished, a malfunctioning V1 landed nearby. What if it landed close enough to take out Hitler? (Oh the irony). One thing’s for sure – some V1 technicians are in trouble.

Bump. No ideas?
Would the bomb plotters try to take over? Do the generals get to run the war? A Nazi civil war? What happens with Bagration? There’s been no Mortain counterattack yet, that’s probably canned.

By this time in the war, isint it too late for the Nazi's? I mean, would Stalin or the Allies seriously have considered any peace proposal? I seem to remember the Germans getting pretty seriously damaged at this point.
