Hitler does not declare war on America

Assume that after Pearl Harbor, Hitler has a rare attack of sanity and says to Japan "The Axis is to protect us against attacks against us. You attacked them. You are on your own."
First, would America leave Germany off the hook, since they were already helping England IIRC and were hearing Bad Things about Adolph?
Even if they do focus on just Japan and leave Germany out, would this be enough to save a Furher who had fronts in Russia and Africa, and was pounding away at Britain?

The European front might last a little longer, but I don't think the Nazis would necessarily be able to win, even without us helping the Allies.

We had a thread on this literally a day or two ago. It should be a few pages from the front.

There have been many threads about this. The general consensus is as follows:

1. Regardless of Hitler's declaration, war between the USA and Germany was almost inevitable in a year or less anyway given the ongoing anti-submarine campaign.
2. Since Pearl Harbor didn't happen in a vacuum (Japan also attacked British forces), the US and Britain would be military allies anyway, and any German attacks on British shipping going to the Pacific would invite a US declararion of war on Germany because they are assisting Japan
3. Once the US enters the German war, there might not be an easy agreement on the "Germany First" strategy.
4. European war might last a bit longer, but outcome will be basically the same.

The war can't really last beyond August 1945 or so with such a late POD. The Americans and British will be collaborating on the atomic bomb project. Some early bombs will be transferred to British control and then the war's over. And that's under the unlikely circumstance that the USA does stay out of Europe. Russia is bled a little dryer, but gets a larger occupation zone. If America enters the European theater late and unwillingly, they might not do the Marshall plan and a couple more nations join the Soviet Bloc.
