Hitler does not cancel Para ops after Crete

After Crete Hitler still has faith in Para ops what targets would be targeted besides Malta and Suez more my thinking goes toward use in Barbarossa

Airborne operations where disasters in WW2... they got all the PR... but inevitably they where fraught with heavy casualties amongst elite hard to replace troops. This wasn't a Germany only problem... their attacks on Holand despite success cost them hundreds of valuable transports that severely hurt the war effort and where impossible to replace (along with thousands of hard to replace casualites). Crete was a disaster as well... Hitler was correct in perceiving that their surprise element had been used up and that with their lack of heavy weapons they where not particularly useful in sustained ground combat. The allies where slower to learn this lesson, and their drops at Siciliy, Salerno, D-Day and Market Garden all encounted heavy losses relative to the quality and effort of forming the divisions

One of his smart decisions was to not conduct any more of these operations

This was one of the war's most important lessons: without artillery support (whether naval or CAS), paras get minced by dug-in defenders, due to their lightweight nature. An enemy who knows in advance where the landings will occur (and deploy 3xA) can turn a drop into a one-sided bloodbath.

Pretty much the only role in which paras were of any real use was night HALO drops for sabotage and/or forward recce and/or specific target designation/'painting'.
