His best-known work is probably Lolita, but Vladimir Nabokov also wrote the novel Ada or Ardor, which deals with a sort of parallel twin of earth called Antiterra, which has a history that diverges from OTL quite significantly. However, the novel really only hints at how different the world is, and leaves a lot of what is mentioned re: Antiterran history pretty vague.

Much of the novel takes place in late 19th century "Estoty" - Canada - which is populated by a mix of Russian-, English-, and French- speakers. There is also mention of "The USA proper", which reaches south to Patagonia (although it may not necessarily be contiguous).

In the place of the OTL 19th century's Russian Empire is a country named Tartary, which occupies roughly the same borders. While I'm not up on the precise history of how the various Mongol and Turkic states that occupied much of what would become Russia later were defeated, it is clear that in Antiterra, that defeat never occurred. This is likely the cause of a diaspora of Russian speakers to North America.

Tartary seems to be the main international opponent of the "Anglo-American Alliance", the Anglo component of which seems to control most of western and central Europe, including France (ruled by a British Viceroy), Scandinavia, and the Balkans. The USA and Britain also jointly control the "two southern continents", which are probably Africa and Australia. Britain also maintains a colonial empire on the Indian subcontinent as in OTL.

So my question is, how can this timeline be fleshed out a bit, or made more "realistic"? Personally, I'm curious about the situation in China, or possibly how the majority of French feel about being ruled by Protestant Englishmen? (Are the English even Protestant on Antiterra?)
