Hirohito assassinated in 1932

in 1932, Hirohito was almost killed By a Korean Independance Activist, in the Sakuradamon Incident.
The activist, Lee Bong-Chang, was arrested and Executed, Prime Minister Inukai attemped to resigned (it was denied), and there was no change in Japanese Policies dealing with Korea.

But, Suppose Lee succeded and kills Hirohito.
I beleive this makes Hirohito's Brother, Chichibu Emperor. (Not sure what his title will be, sorry)

In OTL, Prince Chichibu tried to keep a Good Relationship with The United Kingdom. He didn't quite trust Hitler and Germany, refering to Hitler as an 'Actor', and argued with Hirohito about joining an Alliance with Germany in 1938 and 1939.

Also, this may be relevent, Some historians Beleive he played a part in the Febuary 26 incident in 1936. while it is not clear how much of a role he played, he was sympethetic to the Rebels, agreeing it would be better to replace the current government with a Millitary Dictatorship, controled by the Emperor.
Also, he argued with Hirohito over implimenting Direct Imperial Rule after Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi was assinated in 1932 in the May 15 incident.

So what may happen with Emperor Chichibu?
how will policies dealing with Korea change now?
How might Japan's portion of WWII go?

any thoughts?

Full on Japanese Vengeange on Korea!
(As if things couldn't get any worse for the Koreans at that time!)

The Japanese army will still try to invade China, after all Manchuria has already been taken and the conditions for that were many years in the making, regardless of who's Emperor. maybe the military is given more power in the government and the new government actually prosecutes the war against China better and more vigourously?

Probabaly...
which brings up the question of will the Phillipines and Pearl Harbor be delayed?

I couldn't find any info on Chichibu's atitude to America, so if some one else could help.....

probably sooner and-or more severe....just a hunch.

maybe its because of how many seem to blame Hirohito for WW2, but I have a bad feeling that the Pacific Theater would've been worse without him.

(and if his successor was friendly to the UK, that means that many more soldiers free for fighting Americans)

Although Japanese politics is byzantine at the best of times, nothing much would change IMO in terms of Japanese development. We would still have militarisation, we would still have imperial expansionism etc.

The interesting part is to what extent the direction of that expansionism would change. The 2-26 faction in OTL were much more inclined to the idea of expansion in northern China, and, crucically, Siberia. What eventually happened (this is highly simpistic, but anyway) in OTL was the fire of the young officers in the army remained in place, but it was directed in a much more 'traditional', non-ideological direction by the old guard, so you had Japan striking south. If Chichibu throws his lot in completely with the young Turks, which is entirely possible, you could easily have a war with the Soviet Union.
